Prioritizing Colleges : What to Check And When to Check ?? >> Part-7

Its never late enough to choose from the options that lie ahead of you before leaving for the college of your dreams.

In India it is tough to go for a college that suits you. Believe me when I say, there are more than 75% Indian students who become aware of their fallen careers just when they are closer to their graduation, because they chose a college that had the pomp and show but not the syllabus that would live up to their expectations.

Expectations...

• Close your eyes and try to figure out where you wanna see yourself after (say) 20 years from now. Do the reverse engineering, take the help of elders other than parents and internet for sure.
• This would lead you to understand if you are going for the right direction towards success. Ignore the fuss around you about better or top colleges because none of them can feed you to success.
• Parents too have expectations but its mostly built up in a framework of safety and lifelong durability. Well you should be considering them for they are as practical as you can imagine. But there is no need to follow them blindly. All you need is to bind your interest into their perception of practicality.
• Best part, look for mentors and close friends, siblings could also prove to be of some help. Remember, its important to give your life sometime to know what is best for you, because even if you don't realize you are on your own, well you are above 18 and your parents are (unfortunately) not immortal, I guess, so you get it.
• Try to challenge those who say no to your approach because they need to keep shut in order to watch you rise on your own.

Goals...

• Break down your goals into three parts : Long term, short time and 5 years period.
• Try to look at the objectives of these terms whenever you are trying to go for a decision related to your career or if it affects your future in anyway possible.
• Be honest to yourself so that you do not entertain any kind of guilt or regret in near future.

Guys its obvious to go for a different approach because we all can't gain success by the same method. Each one of you is unique enough to consider yourself before following some other person.
